This is the Debraiding Machine (or rather an early prototype of it). The prototype is losely modeled after an Enigma derivate designed by Dutch Tatjana Van Vark, it's function is then altered to work as a Bobbin Lace Pillow.

The devices around the Debraiding Machine are used to visualize, methodize, capture and finally store the information gathered from the braid.
